Thanks for looking into donating money to JumboCast!

Although JumboCast is starting on a bare-bones budget, we do have some expenses that we need help defraying. (Note: We are not currently operating as a Tufts undergraduate student organization, which means that we are not eligible for Student Activities funding.)

Over the next few years, we need to purchase a small amount of broadcast and computer equipment (much of which we are either borrowing for the time being, or getting used or donated), and, for away games, we will incur long-distance phone expenses and travel reimbursement. We also have a few expenses related to the initial publicity for JumboCast, as we get the word out.

We are considering going to some sort of subscription model in a few years, as we get bigger, but while we are growing, we need to ask the first wave of JumboCast fans to help us out.

There are two basic ways to get money to us:

• through Tufts (if you itemize deductions on your taxes, and therefore need the donation to be tax-deductible), or
• directly to JumboCast (if you don't itemize deductions on your taxes, you can contribute this way)

Through Tufts: Make a check payable to "Trustees of Tufts College" — specifically, mark it "Athletic Dept./JumboCast" in the subject field. Send it to:

We'd also appreciate it if you would send a quick e-mail message to donate@jumbocast.net, so we'll know as fast as possible that you've been kind enough to donate (and we can start rubbing our hands together as we look at the broadcast equipment catalogs).

Directly to JumboCast: JumboCast's Steve Clay is coordinating all of the direct donations to JumboCast. You can send money directly via one of two methods:

• PayPal (use Steve's email address, "sbc@pobox.com"):
• By mail — contact donate@jumbocast.net for a U.S. Mail address.
• (NOTE: We have discontinued the use of the Amazon Honor System for this purpose, as we are unhappy with the percentage that Amazon takes out of each donation. Sorry.)

If you donate money using PayPal, you will receive an e-mail within a few days, acknowledging the donation, and detailing what it will be used for.
